According to Minnesota Statute 144.4961, a licensed radon professional must provide written notification of required test conditions to the responsible party prior to conducting the radon test. The responsible party must acknowledge understanding and agree to maintain test conditions.

To ensure valid test results are obtained, the following conditions must be maintained for at least 12 hours prior to and during the entire testing period:

• windows closed on all levels of the building
• all exterior doors closed except for normal entry and exit
• heating and cooling systems set between 65 and 80°F
• ERV/HRV systems set to lowest ventilation condition
• fireplaces not operated unless primary heat source
• no excessive use of dryers or exhaust fans
• no tampering with the test device(s)
